Re: stretching

Unfortunately stretching has always been problematic for me. I rarely use that command and especially not with walls and dimensions. I find it generally easier to just drag the end points than try to use the stretch command.

Re: Section + Elevation workflow

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as far as i know, there is now way to do what you are asking in HD. Drawings must be moved to be located on the page. Project Views do not work at all like viewports. Like you said, they basically take a snapshot of the file and saves it for future reference....

Re: Drawing straight lines

Now that years have passed and new versions are out, is there a way to set a few fixed angles an ortho mode or polar mode. If we could set 0, 30, 45, 60, 90 then we wouldn't have to hold the shift key. Of course we would need to be able to 'release' those angles for the exceptions. Nothing has been...

Re: Walls

I also use walls extensively. They do have some bugs that need worked out, like the four-way intersection, but the convenience of them generally outweighs the inconveniences they introduce. There are other issues (like when a wall needs to change width along it's length) with them that i have encoun...

Re: symbols - files

you can put all your symbols in one folder, where ever that wants to be - just point HD to the location. I don't believe you can point to separate libraries I think you are correct about this. I was thinking i had multiple library folders, but i actually just have multiple folders within my library...

Re: symbols - files

What your first post describes is HD not being able to find the symbol. This usually occurs when the name of the symbol is changed or it is not saved in the symbol library. You can check the latter by double clicking on the symbol tool to bring up it's dialog box. You can use this dialog box to look...

Re: Working Drawings

So, where do we place our title block? If we have a simple set of 4-6 pages with a few different scales. Site plan, floor plans, elevations, Sections, Details. Can ther be only one sheet for the titleblock, or should there be one for each scale, or each page? What i have recently started doing, and...

Re: Working Drawings

One thing that has helped me is to think of sheets in a similar way to viewports in AutoCAD. Keep in mind that there is not a one-to-one correlation, but if you want multiple drawings at different scales on a page, simply put them on there own sheet at the desired scale and arrange them on the page.

Re: Library

Actually, i create the schedules using HD, i just save each schedule as it's own HD file. Then when i need them, i use the Merge command from the File menu. This is much simpler and quicker than copying and pasting. Once the schedule is in my working HD file, i can copy the 'symbols' (i called them ...

Re: Library

Can symbols be made with editable text or fields? What i have been doing to get around the non-editable text in symbols is to create my schedules in a separate file with place holder text. In doing so, i have ready to use schedules that can be 'merged' with a working file when needed. This also all...

Re: delete multiple styles, sheets & views

I have just started exploring using styles and am running into this same problem. Everytime i merge a file all the styles get merged as well. This behavior is what i want, except when a particular style already exists in the file i am merging with. Then i get multiple copies of the same style, makin...

Re: PDFs revisited

macitect,

At least i know i am not the only one who is having this problem. Your experience with Vectorworks and Archicad seem to point to an issue with HD itself. Hopefully this issue can be resolved in the supposedly upcoming release.

Just to clarify, the PDFs i create look great in Adobe Acrobat, they just do not print properly. So if they are being reviewed on screen, there is no problem.

SurfingAlien wrote: I've not a great need for PDF prints but I noticed I get better results via Print => Save as PDF (this way OSX take care of the PDF creation and not HD)
This is how i have been generating my PDFs as well. I have never tried direct export, so am not sure how that would work.
