Wish List: User Assignable Key Command Shortcuts

Post by alexwhite »

Although I'm getting used to the HD key commands, I'd love to be able to re-assign, or at least add additional keys for shortcuts. The classic one is "K" for "Line": it'd be great if I could assign "L" for "Line" to match ACAD and SU.

Sketch Up does this very nicely...

I agree, as this software does not try and do everything (to it's strength) others such as Sketchup are necesary tools. It would be great to be able to streamline the workspaces.

... and so will do HighDesign!

Shortcuts are essential to any professional user. When used frequently, combinations of keys become automatisms. Having to change them when switching to another software actually results in a real slowdown of the workflow, with less productivity, because the user has to stop, look at the keyboard and search for the right keys.

For anyone interested on more reading on this subject, I'd recommend "The Humane Interface" by Jef Raskin, creator of the Macintosh project.
