Re: Work flow - rotating "ucs"
I'm just curious, for the purposes of understanding work flow - if viewports in R5 or R6 functioned as you desired how would you change your work flow? I would be inclined to leave my sections and elevations rotated around the plan and rotate them on the page/sheet/layout (whatever it is called now...

2017 - dimensions not printing
Is anybody using HD 2017?
Custom text in dimensions are not printing... anybody else experience this?
Pen weights also not printing as they used to.

Re: Work flow - rotating "ucs"
There is no way to do what you are asking. For simple residential projects I have always set up the elevations around the plan. My work flow has always been to get the existing conditions or first iteration of a design to a satisfactory level before then copying them to a new sheet for laying out. I...

Re: HD 1.8.7 on MacOS 10.13 High Sierra?
I'm using R5 current release 2020-1-1715 on Big Sur and I find it quite usable. I admit that there was a period of time when the R5 would spin off into never-never land. That has been fixed in my opinion. If you wanted to try R5 I would. Although I guess R6 is promised by Jan 2021:) so maybe wait f...

Re: HD 1.8.7 on MacOS 10.13 High Sierra?
I'm still running HD 1.8.7 (last stable version!) on OSX.12.6... It runs fine. I've had enough of 'upgrades' from both Ilexsoft and Apple... I stupidly updated my Mac OS because I had such high hopes for the new versions of High Design (2017 and then R5). 2017 is usable - just about, R5 not so much.

Re: set printer + sheet size in Windows?
In HighDesign for Windows you can set the printer through the Print dialog: just click the Print button of the HighDesign Print Center window to open the Windows Print dialog and select the system default printer in the list of available printers. When you open the Page Setup dialog you get the opt...

set printer + sheet size in Windows?
I am trialling the windows version after having used high design plenty on macs before. can someone please tell me where or how I set the printer? Under page setup I am only given the option of A4 or 'letter' paper, and customisable margins. I am running windows 10. Here's a pic of the options I get...

Re: R5
Wow. Had a first play this evening, and there is plenty to get my head around, but still enough familiarity.
Layouts is a game changer! Finally it means I can focus on the drawings and worry about layout after... That had always been my most major frustration.
Look forward to delving deeper...

R5
Just had a quick play on R5 - many great looking developments.
I'll continue my explorations this evening. In the meantime any advice on the use of the new drafting / details / layouts capabilities? Even pointing me toward a tutorial...?
Thanks.

Are you on R5? If so this advice may not be relevant anymore, but I would set up my sheets and then print them to PDF. Gave great results.

Re: exporting/saving to previous versions?
I don't think it's possible. You can save an HD 2016 format file from HD 2017, but not earlier. HD 2016 does not have an option to save as 2015 (or earlier) file. Your only option is to export as DWG and hope HD 2015 doesn't make a complete mess of the subsequent import (which in my experience it p...

exporting/saving to previous versions?
After trying 2017, I think I am going to have to stick with HD 2015 a little longer. How do I get my file back into 2015?
