How do I Create the Right File to send to a Remote Large Format Printer?

Post by Zwerling »

I am using High Design LT on a Mac. I created a drawing that at 1:1 will need to be printed on a large format printer at an engineering print service. How do I create the right file for this purpose? Perhaps the LT version is not up to this task, if so I will upgrade in order to "publish to PDF".

Are you on R5? If so this advice may not be relevant anymore, but I would set up my sheets and then print them to PDF. Gave great results.

So, this is what I've figured out. First, I installed the drivers for a wide format, roll fed printer. I used an HP model, but it doesn't matter which one you use - just one you can download drivers for. Then, when I want to create a file to send to the print shop, I go to Page Setup and select that printer, select the appropriate ARCH size sheet, check that the setup is printing on one sheet at 100% and a 1:1 scale. Then I select Print, then Save as PDF. The saved PDF file is what I send to the print service. I'm using R5, the LT version.
