I was just trying to load an avatar, but noticed there is a 6 kb limit. There is no way you can get an 80x80 image close to 6 kb.
60 kb maybe.
Can this limit be increased?

Yes, it's been increased to 60 KB, which should be enough for a 80x80, 32 bit PNG image. JPEGs and GIFs are usually lighter.

I am having trouble posting an avatar image... keep getting errors with both jpg and png formats...
something about failed to open stream: Permission denied in...
cannont modify header info...

Okay, permissions have been fixed and you should be able to upload your avatar.
Allowed file types are those commonly found on the web: GIF, JPG and PNG.
