I would second this.

Though i have been able to use groups (for things such as keyed notes, door tags, window tags, etc..) in much the same way as i would forsee using symbols if they had entry fields. I think symbols would give greater flexibility as well as have a larger range of uses if done right.

We are adding the ability to export Symbol Attributes as CSV.

I'm starting a new project and I would like to know where we are with this featrue.

I'm also curious if Matthew is able to export tag date using his workaround.

That is what is important to me is tagging each item in my CAD files so that I can relate them to a database.

The feature was added last year, in R6.5 I think. You can export the attributes of the selected symbol instance as CSV and tab-separated text.

I'm on R 6.1 and I will definitely upgrade to current.
