Layout with two viewports

Post by cdesign »

Hello,

I need to make a layout with two viewports (plans) one without furniture and the other with furniture.

How can I control which layers are visible on each viewport ?

Is there other way to get this kind of layout ?

Thanks.

I suppose the long way around is to cut/paste the furniture onto a separate drafting sheet, then use 3 viewports where one is the floor plan, the other is the floor plan with a viewport of just the furniture laid over top. I've been using this technique for grids and section markers etc.

Good question though, I hope that there is layer control in separate viewports soon.

Hello there.

Many thanks for your quick suggestion, It looks a solution if HD does not have any other way to deal with this situation.
I am surprised that HD still does not have a solution for this, I think this is needed many times when presenting with and without furniture.
Let's see the Andrew feedback about this feature or if there is other suggestion from him.

Other issue:
I normally use walls fill with gray, but in the plumbing plan I need to have walls fills transparent to best view the plumbing lines inside the wall.
Now I am duplicating all walls to a new sheet (Plumbing) set other wall style (Transparent Fill).
Do you see the problem?
If I have more floors I need to create additional sheet (Plumbing) for each floor.
I also need to do this workflow if I need to get split circuits cold and hot water and even electric diagram.
Is there any way to do this without so many extra sheets ?
I will need to test if changing just the wall styles will work when printing layouts, maybe I will need to go this way to avoid extra sheets.

Any suggestion ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi HD users,

This seems to be a top feature needed in HD.

How are HD users doing this?

Making an A3 or A2 layout with two plans, with and without dimensions or with and without furniture is necessary.

I would like to hear Andrew's feedback about how we should do this in HighDesign.

Thanks a lot.

Hello,

I still do not find a way to represent this:

- two A4 plans in an A3 layout, one without dimensions and the other with dimensions.
- two A4 plans in an A3 layout, one without furniture and the other with furniture.
or
- two A4 plans in an A3 layout, one with cold water plumbing and the other with hot water plumbing.

Layers are not set by sheet, if we disable a layer it will be disabled in all sheets.

I do not think the other user suggestion works in my draw, I will need one extra furniture layer for each floor.

How would this method work with cold and hot plumbing and dimensions?

To represent with and without dimensions, I think I will need 3 extra sheets only with the dimensions symbols and place the viewport of them above each plan floor.
This looks I will have a hard job.

So how can this be done?

Can you please give me some tips to get this kind of layout?

Does somebody have a tip to do this properly?

Thanks

Hi, apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

Currently, you can create any number of viewports that show the same drawing at different locations and scales. In the Viewport settings panel, you can set a filter to hide texts, annotations and dimensions in the viewport, or change colors and fills.

Showing or hiding certain layers in viewports is currently not possible. That would require combining viewports with Project Views, which is a brilliant feature that we have discussed internally and added to our To-Do list. I cannot give you a time frame for that, but you can expect it in an update or a beta soon.

Linking viewports to project views to show and hide layers on a per-viewport basis was implemented in HighDesign R9.
