EDIT: I would imagine that a repository for Symbols and Hatches (separate thread) would benefit all HD users, so I'll kick things off. (Some might remember that I promised to get a site up a while ago, but alas I've not had the kind of time that would allow me to learn about databases on the net...)
I propose that the symbols we share adhere to the following 2 conditions;
1.All elements within the symbol be on the HighDesign layer. Think of it as the Layer0. I would imagine that we all have our own layer sets, so this will keep it clean and not add a bunch of foreign layers to our drawings - it only requires that we keep one of the default layers.
2.Symbols - particularly in PLAN view, but it may be a good idea in other views too - contain a solid white fill so that they can be placed over floor hatches etc.

1/4" scale? The symbols can be used at any scale - unless you mean something with a little more detail...
I normally just draw squares of the appropriate sizes, but here are a couple symbols that I made a while back that I don't use much:
